We focus on helping rangatahi reconnect with nature and the great outdoors. They will learn many of the skills that were used by their ancestors to survive in balance with nature as well as a genuine appreciation of and respect for the natural environment.

Overview

Outdoor Education that incorporates traditional cultural learning, life skills and vocational training.

Rongoā Māori​

Plant identification​

Harvesting tikanga and Whakapapa of rongoā

Decoctions, infusions, soaps, creams etc production

Maramataka (Māori luna calendar) in relation to rongoā, fishing and mara kai​

Kai Moana gathering​

Traditional hāngi​

Food and meat prep (including killing and preparing animals), quantities

Wood and hāngi rock gathering

Hāngi for fundraising (200-500 people)

Hunting/Gathering

Smoking and preserving meats and fish

Water safety and surf/life-saving competency

Tramping/hiking and camping skills

Māra kai (gardening)
